Five at-risk teens fight their societal obstacles and a broken education system to graduate high school and rise above their fate. 

In Pacoima, a poverty-stricken neighborhood of Los Angeles, five at-risk students fight to overcome the trauma, homelessness and violence in their low-income community. With the odds stacked against them, they find their ticket out of the disadvantaged environment. It is a school that tailors the curriculum and wraparound services to the individual needs of each student by offering a personalized learning plan versus the one-size-fits all education system. The students begin to thrive and find purpose. For the very first time, a light begins to shine in the hearts and mind of these five students!


One in four U.S. students drop out of high school, setting themselves up for a difficult path towards either poverty or crime. nationwide our youth are being held hostage in communities stricken with gang violence, dismal resources and inadequate education opportunities. For some, finding a way out is the difference between life and death — or La Lucha, the Spanish term which means the struggle or fight to survive. Today the term is often used to describe the fight for educational and economical social justice.
